It's a WRAP!

Season's Greetings from all of us at K-Gen!!

Christmas is definitely a huge celebration in Korea, where majority of Koreans are Christians, and the Christmas spirit is definitely felt very strongly everywhere else!

Ahh, just the thought of Christmas trees, PRESENTS, gingerbread mans, Santa Claus and his reindeers, and so many more things that reminds us of this wonderful event brings a sense of warmth to everyone!

Indeed, Christmas also seems to signal to us that yet another eventful year is coming to an end. Here at K-Gen, we would also like to take this opportunity to thank EVERYONE for your continuous support during this year of 2011, for making K-Gen the club that it is now!

Therefore, we would like to take this opportunity to take a trip down memory lane, of how you have contributed to our club's success, and also to revisit those events that left a wonderful history to us, as K-Gen celebrate it's 1st anniversary!

JANUARY 2011
13th January 2011
Digi Kpop Live Party, Stadium Negara

Our first activity of the year started off with a K-pop concert!
Thanks to DIGI, we were invited to attend Digi Kpop Live Party where B2ST, 4Minute and G.Na visited Malaysia! Besides that, Digi was also so generous to gift some autographed items from the Hallyu stars, which were subsequently won by 2 of our K-Gen's facebook friends!

On that day, our admins also caught the attention of the KBS Reporter and was subsequently interviewed by them! K-Gen appeared in KBS Channel for the short moments it was aired! Did you notice our admins Migo and Callie? ^^
MARCH 2011
2nd & 3rd March 2011
Recruitment Drive, in front of Student Life Centre, Taylor's Lakeside Campus

We begin our activities in campus in March where all of the courses are beginning their new semester for the year 2011!
K-Gen BODs were all here to announce K-Gen as being part of Taylor's Clubs &Societies. Being the only club that focuses on K-pop and with the ever increasing awareness to the K-pop culture, K-Gen BODs had an exhausting but thrilling 2 days of continuously explaining the purposes, aims and upcoming activities to curious passer-bys.

Only barely 7 months old since it was first founded, many passer-bys definitely showed a huge interest in our club! Our efforts really paid off! ^^

Our introduction of RM10 as a registration fee also did not deter the passionate K-pop fans from joining our club without a thought! We certainly did not expect so many Taylor-ians to be K-pop fans and were so glad we are able to find all of you to share our passion!

18th March 2011
K-Gen AGM, LT6

This was our first time meeting some of our members, and boy, we became close friends after that! I have to say that our ice breaking sessions were enough to make all of us a part of the family! Truly, K-pop is a unique interest because everyone just warms up to each other so quickly!

Members were also treated to a summary of our upcoming activities for the year, and all were real eager in participating in those activities...already!

APRIL 2011
Beginning every Saturday of April 2011 till June 2011
"Let's Hangul" (Korean Language Class) by Rue Hann, Lim at Taylor's Lakeside Campus

With the increasing influx of Korean dramas, variety shows and K-pop related activities, members were immediately drawn to learn Hangul. Actually, the first question that we faced from all of the passer-by's during our Recruitment Drive was "Do you have Korean language classes?" and were delighted to know we are starting this project soon!

Under the guidance of our young and oh-so lovely ssaem (teacher, in Korean), Rue-Hann, the members learned basic Korean and even conversational Korean. Being in love with K-pop makes the classes so much easier, as ssaem filled each slide with our favourite Hallyu star and even made scenarios for us to help us learn easier and faster!

7th April 2011
Orientation Party, MPH, TLC

This closed event for freshies were introduced to K-pop by Dawn's Arch! Dancing to Teen Top's "Clap", made everyone grooved to the beat and became instant fans of Dawn's Arch and were even more curious about K-pop!
We were glad to be part of the orientation and also be witnessing Dawn's Arch performance from 'a VERY close distance". :)
9th April 2011
KTO Fieldtrip, Korea Plaza, Jln P.Ramlee

Of course we would need to visit Korea Plaza! Therefore, members and friends alike came together on this day to experience a little bit of Korean culture. Thanks to Korea Plaza, we played the game of "Tuho" (a Korean game where members try to throw several arrows into a small pot from a distance) and were also treated to a cooking class where we learned to make "mandu" (a Korean dumpling) for our lunch! And it was all courtesy of Korea Plaza!

Some members were also so lucky to walk away with prizes exclusively provided by Korea Plaza! Hope you guys had fun! We did too!

MAY 2011
14th May 2011
Member's Day, around Lakeside Campus

This day was actually conceived after the overwhelming response during our March Recruitment Drive! We just felt that we want to show our gratitude for all of our members for having placed their faith in us, and would like to dedicate this day to get to know our members better as well as have some fun!

Station games were played, inspired by games on popular shows like "Running Man" and "2 Days 1 Night". Even though it was only for half a day, we still had tons of fun, and the winning team were also awarded some prizes for their effort!

21st May 2011
2AM Showcase, Wisma MCA

Thanks to DIGI (again!), 2 KGEN BODs and also 2 members were treated to attend 2AM's showcase for free! Besides that, 2 K-Gen admins also went for the autographed sessions and returned home with autographed CDs from the boys themselves!

What an amazing experience to be part of the I Am's!
28th May 2011
Hari Belia Negara, Putrajaya

Super Junior-M were invited to perform at Hari Belia Negara 2011 among other artistes and we couldn't be more happier than this! And since there are quite a number of ELFs in K-Gen and also because the concert is FREE, we just have to go there as a group!
Our first venture was successful, as everyone were able to go to the event and enjoy the concert with other members of our club!

JUNE 2011
4th June 2011
The Cri Show, Plenary Hall, KLCC

Thanks to Rhythm-Land, K-Gen once again had the opportunity to attend Jang Keun Suk's showcase! 2 KGEN BODs and 2 members were awarded this honour and were certainly very excited to be given the opportunity to see their idol up close!

Pictured here is one of the enthusiastic member, Bii, who was there VERY early before the event started! Am sure he was sooo anxious to meet his idol! :P

AUGUST 2011
3rd August 2011
Recruitment Drive & Flashmob, in front of SLC

Dancing to K-pop became a MUST, and interested members diligently came for all flashmob practice sessions even though it was during the weekdays or weekends on top of their studies!
With the help and guidance with established dancers, JSY, MTS2 and also How How from Progression, all those who participated were soon getting their grooves right to the many K-pop songs we prepared for the Recruitment Drive!

The enthusiasm level was high when it concerns K-pop, and all of us definitely showed the whole campus that K-pop is AWESOME on top of being downright infectious! All of us were also not satisfied with just one slot of performance time, and were soon dancing randomly (with a slight uniformity) to the random songs for the whole day!

Now this is what K-pop spirit is all about!

20th August 2011
Hallyu Festival 2011, MPH, Lakeside Campus.

Finally, our biggest event is here! All those hard work of all the KGEN BODs and crew finally came! And boy, was it an event not to be missed!
With such a huge turnout (300+ attendees even though it was during the Holy month), and sponsors from B Station, Etude House, Koreanophile, Epop, Red Box, Kart KWorld, Korea Plaza, Korean Pavillion as well as supported by Student Development Hub (SDH) and Taylor's University, this day was an unforgettable day for all K-poppers from all around Klang Valley!

This event also saw some amazing dance crews, like MTS2, JSY, 20 Cents, 10 Minute Crew, Soulerz, G.I Locket, Dawn's Arch, Black Eyed Crew, and U-Scream, the crowd was entertained throughout the event and screamed endlessly in support.
Talents were also unearthed, with crowd favourite ZKeong, leaving the crowd giving a standing ovation by his dance covers of Girls Generation songs.

Malaysian fan clubs also added an interesting part to our festival, displaying their items and involving the crowd in interactive games.

The huge attraction were of course, the Malaysian-based Korean band, KODI, which mesmerized all those present with their rendition of K-drama's OSTs (original soundtracks).
Overall, K-Gen felt their efforts definitely paid off when we saw the level of enthusiasm of mere strangers from all over Klang Valley who unanimously gathered to share the passion for K-pop.

SEPTEMBER 2011
18th September 2011
K-Pop Dance Competition, Berjaya Times Square

In support of our new friendship between KGEN and MTS2, some KGEN BODs and members attended this event to support MTS2 for their participation in the Kpop Dance competition finals.

Dressed in our personalized tees "I LOVE KPOP", we all cheered and waved our placards for MTS2.We had so much fun getting to know other K-pop dancers as well!

OCTOBER 2011
15th October 2011
3rd Wave I'll Be There Music Rally, Wisma FGA

Thanks to Starpark, our admins and 2 members were also treated to an extraordinary event which saw Brian Joo of Fly to The Sky, and Alexander (of former U-Kiss) spreading Christianity to those who attended the event. The first of its kind event exemplifies how K-pop stars were still rooted to their strong faith to their religion despite their busy schedules of being Hallyu stars.

NOVEMBER 2011
18th November 2011
You & I, LT20

With almost everyone of us having our finals, it was time to wrap up our year with out last event, named "You & I". This event aimed to thank all of our members for their support throughout the year. Besides performances by Gladys and Crew, MTS2 and JSY, members were treated to some games like K-pop quizzes and a game of jegi, and even walked away with some prizes!

Our most significant moment though was when we awarded 2 of the best members, namely Hwa Wee and Thean Shiong for being the most active members of our club! We also awarded 5 other best members, and all of them received some prizes from us! Their participation really paid off!

This day was also my bittersweet moment as I bid farewell to my BODs and members as my term in KGEN BOD comes to an end.

**

So that's all for the activities that K-Gen had been doing for 2011!
We certainly did not expect to have so much fun in introducing and getting to know so many people who are interested in K-pop through K-Gen activities and meetups!

Certainly, we cannot do it without each and everyone of your support!
You all have made us aspire to be BETTER in our future activities, and we hope that we can meet each other soon!

Hoping to attend Hallyu Festival 2012,
KGEN 2011 TEAM.
