13th January 2011, Thursday. Stadium Negara, Malaysia. 7pm. 3 acts. 1 unforgettable night.
Brought to you by Digi Telecommunications (Digi) and Universal Music Malaysia (UMM), Malaysia K-pop fans had an unforgettable night when they were treated to not one, but a triple performance by the entire Cube family, namely 4minute, G.Na and BEAST. K-Generation(K-Gen) BOD Migo and Callie were given the “silver” opportunity to attend this unforgettable event, courtesy of Digi and UMM.
Heavy rain greeted the excited crowd who gathered at the entrance as early 2pm, but this clearly did not dampen their spirits. We managed to meet Chiam Su May, who is one of the winners of the Digi Mimic contest that K-Gen had organized for Digi, and presented her her very own autographed picture of Beast, sponsored by Digi.
K-Gen BOD Migo also managed to be interviewed by the KBS World reporter, and the short footage was shown later on KBS News. The other fans were also kept entertained by Digi’s question and answer event where they had a chance to win some exclusive merchandises.
The entrance finally opened at 7pm and the crowd went wild to get the perfect view. Those who got to view the star’s standby place screamed in frenzy when they saw glimpses of the Cube family walking pass. Two yellow giant Digi beach balls were also tossed around the stadium to keep the crowd occupied and excited.
Finally the lights were dimmed and an opening performance by a local artist ensued. The emcee, Royce from MyFM took the stage later on and explained on the Digi Music packages and gave complimentary gifts to some lucky concert goers.
The restless crowd was finally rewarded for their patience when G.Na stepped out in a gorgeous T-shirt with a fitting black leather jacket with long torn blue jeans. She performed her debut song “I Will Get Lost, You Go Your Way”. The highlight of her performance however, was the duet with Jun Hyung, who appeared dramatically onstage on an elevated platform.
G.Na really wowed the crowd with her powerful vocals, and earned admiration from her fans through her fluency in English during the short interview with Royce after that. It was revealed that it was her first time in Malaysia and she promised to deliver her best to the Malaysian crowd which garnered a rousing scream of agreement from those present.
Her next song was Rihanna’s “Take a bow”, which definitely had the crowd’s attention to G.Na’s amazing English command. Her next song “Supa Solo” also had the crowd excited as it was accompanied by a rocking dance crew.
It was then 4minute’s turn, and the crowd’s cheer were getting louder. Opening the stage with their hits “Huh” and “I My Me Mine”, the crowd went wild and sang along loudly to the beat. 4minute also had a chance to “connect” with their Malaysian fans during the short interview session when they said “Bagus” when asked of their opinion of Malaysian fans.
4minute continued to enthral the crowd with their powerful and catchy songs like “Highlight”, “Muzik” and “Hot Issue”. Not only were their moves perfectly choreographed, but they also managed to interact with the crowd and include them in at the chorus parts, which the crowd happily chipped in.
The next performers had the loudest screams of the night, and they were none other than the charming boys from Beast. Although missing a member, Beast did not fail to mesmerize the crowd, and belted out energetically their songs ,“Special”, followed by “Soom” and “Shock”. Beast also did not disappoint the crowd as they showed off their perfect dance routine, accompanied by their strong vocals. “Oasis” was belted out afterwards, but the song “Beautiful” was the most anticipated by the crowd.
Beast certainly knew how to have fun with the crowd as they run around the stage and connected with the audience from different parts of the stadium. They were even attentive to the cameras around and wasted no time in showing their mischievous side. Fans were definitely overjoyed with their efforts and screamed louder in response. “V.I.U” was the last song that was performed by them, and fans continued to scream till the very end.
All good things seem to end too soon, and it was then the finale after the electrifying performances. The Cube family came on stage and bade farewell to the crowd, with Beast even bowing 90 degrees to the fans as a mark of gratitude. G.Na was also seen snapping some photos with some fans in the crowd and waved goodbye to the trickling crowd.
In all, this concert has been the best concert that Malaysia has received yet as it combined 3 powerful acts of the hottest groups in Korea. It was an amazing experience for K-Gen to be a part of this concert, and hope that more Korean idols would make Malaysia their next stop for their tour.
